Finally the wait is over, The Aakash is in markets now. Aakash, the world’s cheapest tablet which is purely made in India. The product is manufactured by the Datawind & cost approximately 35$ as manufacturing cost & will be available for roud 50 – 60$  i.e.  Rs 3000 approx. The 3000 figure is maximum suggested retail price of the version. The commercial version will also include an embedded cellular modem & a SIM. Ubislate, is the name of the device in retail market.

2 full USB Ports

3.5 mm audio jack but there are no loud speakers

2100 mAh battery (Direct DC Charging)

2-3 Hours of backup (depends on use)

Android 2.2 Froyo operating system

The device is loaded with apps but market place app not available. A dedicated marketplace will be made to allow students to download the educational content.

The device has wifi capability & as I wrote above the commercial version will be available with the SIM & GPRS facilities.

A carry case with embedded keyboard is a good option for the device & is available in the market .

The main object to launch this gadget is to increase the number of the internet users in India however there are around 88 million users in India, which is not a bad number but just around 8 % of the total population of India.

I will try to bring the latest news or videos about the tablet, till then goodbye. 🙂
